International Monetary Fund spokesman, Jerry Rice, revealed that the Fund agreed to requests for emergency assistance to tackle the Corona Virus pandemic from 50 of its 89 countries, with a total value of about $ 18 billion, and that it continues to urgently process more than 50 other requests.
Rice told reporters, in an online briefing, that the IMF’s Executive Board will consider a request submitted by Egypt for urgent financing and arranging on-demand lending on May 11.
Rice did not mention all the countries whose requests are being considered by the fund, but he said in response to questions that the experts of the fund are studying applications from Sri Lanka, South Africa and Zambia
