The young man, who was born and raised in Britain, did not forget the cultural heritage that is rooted in the history of his continent and in his soul too. The birth of the brand “Peter and Black” came from the cradle of the African dress.
Muhammad Adam, the 25-year-old young man, in his educational dream wished to study architecture, but he was not lucky enough to enroll at the specified college. Instead he was admitted into the Faculty of Textile Engineering; the Department of Fashion Design and Handicrafts . Adam did not give up, but worked diligently to make his dream come true. For three years he worked hard to find a way to communicate with his desire to designing . At last he found the way to combine engineering and fashion. In the business arenas the idea found its ground too, so the innovative work descended from the artistic heritage of the black continent was born.
Adam says that owning a brand was a dream that fascinated him for a long time. So with the help of friends he was able to patent on his name the trademark “Peter & Black”. With leather products from the depth of the Sudanese-African cultural heritage, in an innovative artistic way, Adam made his way to the global competition.
ِAs an entrepreneur, engineer Mohamed Adam founder and owner of the brand (Peter and Black) for leather goods, confirms that determination and will are the solid platform for the entrepreneur. He added “ My specialization in textile engineering did not form a barrier to hinder me achieving my wish, but I had my open selection to make my choice .I’m an artist by nature so I chose my nature’s call in me .” The brand which is confined to a high-quality Sudanese leather industry, as its owner says, targets young people looking for elegance. Implementing this requirement was the cause that resulted in acquiring the success of the project and to occupy its leading position within the short time of only two years and so taking its position among the most distinguished brands of Sudanese fashion hub.
“Peter and Black” participated in a number of exhibitions, including “Made in Sudan”, “ Yalla Khartoum” and “Karmakool” in addition to setting up a workshop for handicrafts, and also obtaining a partnership with an Ethiopian brand bearing the name Kongesta.
Adam believes that it is a necessity to spread the culture of self-employment within all parties concerned with the entrepreneurial movement in Sudan whether in the official or private sectors. He also called on the state to provide an entrepreneurial environment to stimulate entrepreneurs to be creative and to facilitate material and technical support for small and medium enterprises in Sudan.
